5 Wardrobe Pieces You Need to Show Your 90s Disney Side

What do you think of when you recall your favorite shirts, jackets, tank tops and shoes from the 90s? Bright colors – and lots of them? Geometric shapes that seem to have no rhyme or reason to their placement? Faded washes? Giant cartoon characters (maybe Disney ones)? Oversized fitting? Seemingly computer-looking details? Take a look at photos of you from that decade and tell me at least one of those descriptions isn’t accurate about the outfit you were sporting. #noshame

As with any fad from the past, 90s fashion is making a comeback. Think acid wash shirts, high-waisted pants and overalls. I know I’ve seen all of these pieces while out and about shopping lately. Even the merchandise teams at Disney are taking notice. In fact, they just released a collection of shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, tanks and flip flops that have a distinct and recognizable 90s style. The fashion collection features everyone’s favorite mouse, Mickey, bright colors and sharp, geometric lines. Thanks to a tip from a friend, I was able to see these beauties in real life at the World of Disney store at Disney Springs in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. One of the many benefits of living in Central Florida is close proximity to the place “Where Dreams Come True…” I can’t wait to show you photos of the tremendous designs and tell you all about the pieces in the collection!

14 pieces were found in the collection of 90s-inspired gear at the World of Disney store. It included t-shirts, tank tops, sweatshirts, jackets and flip-flops for men and women. The prices range from $14.99 to $64.99 for each article of clothing, which is pretty reasonable (especially for Disney). Although each item is wonderfully inspired by the awesome 90s era, five pieces stood out above the rest and need to be added to your closet ASAP.

Mickey Flip-Flops

Women’s sizes

These funky flops were with the women’s clothing, but surely could be worn by just about anyone. The sole on the left foot and right foot have different designs. The left has Mickey’s name repeated in multiple colors in a large block font and the right has a cartoon rendering of Mickey in the same color scheme. At the lowest price point in the collection, these are an affordable way to add some 90s fashion to your closet. They’re also great if you’re not sure about all the bold colors and patterns, since you can’t see the print on either flip-flop when you’re wearing them.

Mickey Pocket T-Shirt

Men’s sizes

When it comes to cliché 90s fashion staples, this t-shirt has it all. Oversized fit. Sharp, geometric shapes. Bright colors. Large character icon. Chest pocket. Acid wash. Pre-cuffed sleeves. All the makings of a wonderfully 90s article of clothing. While this was in the men’s section, it actually ended up being my favorite piece in the whole collection. So, I bought it. And I love it. See the picture of me below looking ridiculously happy (and probably a little ridiculous).

Mickey Digital Sweatshirt

Women’s sizes

This sweatshirt is so fun! The small squares that give it a pixel-type of vibe and also remind me of confetti. Which is fitting since every day at Disney Parks is a celebration! The square shape in the raining arrangements of pixels is echoed in the text style for Mickey Mouse for a cohesive look. Add a friendly, waving Mickey and the article of clothing is complete. Bonus – this sweatshirt is extremely soft and has a cozy front pocket, too.

Mickey Raglan T-Shirt

Men’s Sizes

Although in the men’s section, this looks like a more feminine fit and style when viewing in person. The Mickey Mouse printing on the front totally reminds me of the 90s Mickey Mouse Club show that introduced us to Britney, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling and Christina Aguilera. Remember the iconic letterman jackets each one of them wore in the introduction? Hey, why aren’t those a part of this fashion line? Disney, if you read this, please make those personalized jackets available for purchase so we can all feel like we were a part of the M.M.C. Anyways, this raglan t-shirt is a nice, light-weight material and has a black body with white sleeves. A bright detail is on one of the sleeves and features groups of colored triangles and Mickey’s lovable little mug.

Mickey Pullover Sweatshirt

Men’s Sizes

This partial-zip, pullover sweatshirt has a bit of a higher price tag than some of the other articles, but trust me, it is so worth it. It’s somewhat oversized, so sizing-down for a more fitted look is recommended. The sweatshirt is black all over, except for a block of red-orange (with matching zipper) at the top and for the hood. This red-orange section is a different material than the rest of the sweatshirt, too, which adds dimension. Mickey, looking rather surprised, is over the left side of the chest and his name is embroidered on the front pocket. The coolest detail on this piece HAS to be the inside of the hood which has a pattern of small white triangles. I didn’t purchase this sweatshirt upon my visit and am having MAJOR regrets now. It may come home with me on my next trip to Disney Springs. #sorrynotsorry

I was able to capture photos of the rest of the stunning articles of clothing in this collection to share with you all. If the five things mentioned above didn’t catch your eye, I am positive something else 90s-inspired will. Take a look below for images of the other items.

I’ve only seen these items at the World of Disney store at Disney Springs so far. They are not available online or the Shop Disney Parks app, but hopefully they will be soon! I am sure I’ll be adding some more items to my wardrobe, so be sure to subscribe to our email newsletter and follow Miss Reminisce on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and Instagram to see me showing my 90s Disney Side in these radical pieces!
